Description of Work:
The Finance/Grant serves in a customer-facing, consultative role and is responsible for providing finance and grant support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines. The Finance/Grant primarily executes and reviews routine and complex finance and pre- and post-award grant transactions. The Finance/Grant will work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions. This position functions under limited supervision and is expected utilize technology to provide professional services. Supervises Finance/Grants employees. Works with direct reports to identify and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related finance or grant management work experience; equivalent education/experience considered. Must have experience with SAP or large integrated finance system. Must have a willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information required. Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines essential. Must have demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business preferred; or equivalent experience. Experience performing project or cost accounting preferred. Experience conducting training desirable. Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team preferred. Experience performing grant-related tasks at a University of Nebraska institution helpful. Experience with NuGrant or similar grants management system preferred. Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices desirable. Knowledge of grant terminology and practices helpful. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others desirable.
