The Broward County government was established under Charter in 1974 as a home rule government. The County has a strong Commission/Administrator form of government. The Board of Broward County Commissioners is composed of nine members, elected every two years for four-year staggered terms. The County Administrator serves as the Chief Executive Officer and manages the County’s operating departments and divisions.
The Finance and Administrative Services Department is the internal support system for the balance of Broward County's service delivery network. This Department serves as the County's banker, bookkeeper, buyer, insurance agent, record keeper, bill payer and bill collector. The Chief Financial Officer oversees the six divisions within the Department. The Investment Finance Analyst reports to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and manages the $4.5 billion fixed-income investment portfolio of the County and all Broker-Dealer relationships. This person is the primary contact for the Master Banking Agreement.
