Work closely with the investment team to evaluate and execute potential acquisitions in the power industry. Conduct macro and market research to inform investment decision-making, including understanding trends and rule changes at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the various independent system operators (ISOs), as well as assessing general natural gas and energy market dynamics such as production and pipeline forecasts and LNG developments. Evaluate specific assets which will be informed by the fundamental market research, including building detailed leveraged buyout financial models and forecasting power plant dispatch and gross margin performance. Conduct due diligence on potential acquisitions, including historical financial performance, asset fuel supply, transmission system constraints, and material contracts and agreements. Work with deal team members on the investment team to build materials to present to the Hull Street Energy Investment Committee. Assist with internal valuation work as well as preparation of investor relations materials.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or a closely related field. 2 years of power industry valuation experience, to include: performing economic valuation of various power generation fuels and technologies; conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis on power prices forecast in North American power markets; forecasting changes to the generation supply stack in various independent system operators; evaluating North American energy prices based on supply and demand dynamics; modeling and forecasting power plant dispatch; conducting due diligence on power assets; financial valuation and analysis; and financial modeling in Microsoft Excel.
