Position Summary:
Yeshiva University seeks a Principal Student Finance Clerk to support its Student Finance office at the Cardozo Law School.
Position Responsibilities:
Process Financial Aid and/or Accounts Receivable information on the computer
Answers phones, provides basic information with screen and routing of calls
Responds to emails sent to the office email account and personal work email account, provides basic information and forwards emails if necessary to the appropriate person or department
Utilizes other forms of communication authorized by the Office, such as online-chat (instant-message), to communicate with students and parents
Counsel students and parents on completion of forms and various payment options
Counsel students and parents on general financial aid topics and procedures
Posts institutional scholarships and grants, as assigned, to students' Banner accounts
Prepare bank deposit and/or process complete files
Maintain student files (hardcopy paper and electronic)
Performs basic secretarial duties, including word processing
Maintain student Financial Aid/Accounts Receivable information on the computer
Assists with students at the counter
Handles inquiries regarding new, current and former students' financial aid for each student
Processes payments by cash, check or credit card and/or process financial aid for each student
Processes refunds, credit card credits and/or changes in financial aid
Posts memos, payment plans and/or comments regarding each student
Sets up appointments for Director or Assistant Directors
Process transcript requests and/or verification forms, including federal C-Flags
Generates and distributes computer reports as needed
Prepare hold lists and distributes to various departments
Researches and prepares reports for the Student Finance Office and various Dean's Offices
Prepares correspondence as needed for supervisor
Provides routine guidance to others as to job duties
Assigns work to student workers
Travels to other campuses to assist during orientation and registration process
Process meal plan requests and generates reports for meal plan managers and/or process aid when given for meal plan
Interacts with other departments regarding admission, registration and deans as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
Experience & Educational Background:
Minimum 4 years previous office experience in positions of increasing responsibility
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of Student Finance Office procedures
Skilled in record keeping and data entry
Must work accurately under pressure and be able to work with minimum supervision
Salary Range:
Grade 7. 1199 New Hire rate:$26.76 and 1199 One Year of Service rate: $27.31
