The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track, adjunct faculty position to teach an undergraduate course on Management of Financial Institutions for Spring 2023.
JOB TITLE:Assistant Professor if the candidate has a Ph.D; Instructor otherwise.
APPOINTMENT START DATE:Spring semester appointment begins January 4, 2023; classes begin January 11, 2023.

A non-tenure track, adjunct faculty position in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level to teach an undergraduate course in Finance, focusing on the Management of Financial Institutions. This course is an elective class in LSBE’s Finance major. The course is taught in-person on campus and is currently scheduled to be offered in a once-a-week, evening format (Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:40 PM). This may be subject to change.
The candidate hired to teach this course will have responsibilities for managing all aspects of teaching the course, including course development, course delivery, grading, and communicating with students. The department will provide guidance on course content and syllabus. The candidate is also expected to hold office hours (in-person or virtual) to ensure access to students outside of class hours. All classes in LSBE must adhere to university’s guidelines pertaining to COVID protocols.
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, with substantive coursework in Accounting and/or Finance. Doctoral candidates with an ABD from an accredited institution, with substantive coursework in Accounting and/or Finance, are also eligible.
Work experience that demonstrates active involvement in the Accounting or Finance professions, since the time of the Master’s degree completion. An ABD or PhD in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline also fulfills this requirement.
Be qualified faculty as defined by LSBE. Candidates are expected to provide sufficient details in their CVs about their full-time work experience and engagement in professional activities (e.g., attending business/professional events, participation in professional development activities, service on boards, or continuing education, etc.) from the past five years. College-level teaching experience in Accounting, Finance, or related undergraduate courses.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of constituents.
Experience in training or public speaking within an organized setting.
