The Director of Finance & Administration for Athletics Advancement is a key member of the Athletics Advancement team at William & Mary and has responsibilities to support both the university and the William & Mary Athletics Foundation (WMAF) as a key strategic relationship-builder for a vibrant Division I Athletics program.
The Director of Finance & Administration for Athletics Advancement reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement and leads the finance, administration and business functions of the Athletics Advancement Office. On the Foundation side, the Director is responsible for all financial transactions and is the lead administrator for the W&M Athletic Foundation.
The Director works closely with campus partners and internal leadership within Athletics to ensure efficient and consistent business operations, ensuring Athletics Advancement is a good steward of allocated financial and physical resources as the office continues to grow and evolve. The Director oversees Athletics Advancement office internal operations as well as administrative and organizational support to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement. This position interacts with high-level University officials, community stakeholders, and donors regarding their relationship with the University and assists the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement in maintaining and managing existing stakeholder relationships as well as creating and fostering the growth of new relationships.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience in financial and budget management including financial forecasting, including proactive identification and risk mitigation of issues related to financial accounts, financial processes, and controls and analytical skills related to financial assessments and strategic goal setting.
Expertise in accounting and budget functions with working knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and risk management issues.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in a variety of software applications to include MS Office (particularly with advanced skills in excel) and databases. Working knowledge of automated accounting or financial systems.
Hands on experience with web-based reporting systems (e.g., Banner finance module, oracle-based ERP system, or other relational database system).
Significant organizational skills, flexible, proactive, self-motivated and exceptional time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to handle multiple and competing priorities while adhering to strict timelines and deadlines.
