The Systems and Finance Analyst (SFA) reports to the Associate Director of Systems and Finance for Housing Services and supports the growth of Housing Services by helping to develop process improvements and business solutions that are often technology-based and focused on the staff and customer experience. This position also provides data analysis to help guide financial decision-making, and ensures that the appropriate internal controls are addressed, maintained and strengthened to protect University resources.
The SFA applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. The SFA demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions focused on continuous improvement of Housing's operations.
The SFA involves technology-based analysis of business practices, processes and problems; developing solutions which may involve process design, data and information architecture, and policy or procedural changes; creating specifications for systems to meet requirements; validating requirements against needs; developing user interface design; planning and executing unit integration and end-user acceptance testing; may develop training materials for system implementation.
The SFA also uses professional financial concepts and applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues such as balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger verification. The SFA works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of multiple factors. This position exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. The SFA implements department budget allocations and maintains department chart of accounts, and related business processes.
The SFA may lead cross-functional teams to solve complex business/systems or financial operations issues. This position will function as unit liaison with various teams including but are not limited to: Housing sub-units, CLS Business Tech, UCSF IT, the Finance Service Center, Controller's office, Supply Chain Management, and vendors.
This position acts as back-up support for both the Associate Director of Systems and Finance and Financial Services Analyst as needed.
