The Vice President of Finance is a key position responsible and accountable for the administrative and financial operations of RUPCO and its related entities, which includes the development of financial and operational strategies, and the ongoing development and monitoring of internal control systems to preserve and protect company assets, report accurate financial results analyze asset management efforts, and participate in lease up and management of agency residential and commercial portfolio. Experience with not-for-profit real estate finance/accounting practices would be extremely helpful to the success of the person occupying this position.
Manage the accounting/finance, grants management, asset management and property management departments.
Oversee the financial operations of RUPCO and related entities.
Oversee all accounting areas functions: Payroll, Accounts Payable and Receivable, bank statement reconciliations, grant vouchers, cash receipts, real estate development project budgets and tenant rent collection.
Oversee and produce the issuance of financial information and reports for RUPCO and all related entities.
Forecast and develop budgets for all aspects of the operation of RUPCO and related entities as well as prospective programs.
Manage and coordinate the annual audits for RUPCO and related entities.
Maintain relations with external auditors and review or investigate their findings and recommendations.
Ensure that recordkeeping meets the requirements of auditors and governing agencies.
Review and approve all tax filings for RUPCO and related entities.
Oversee and produce monthly financial statements for RUPCO and related parties for the Board of Directors and meet with Board Finance/Audit Committee to report on activity and potential risk issues.
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
Participate in the arrangement of financing and projections for projects and operational needs.
Assist with grant and development project proposal/applications as required.
Oversee drawdowns for reimbursement from grant and contract sources.
Oversee significant purchases for RUPCO and related entities.
Implement operational best practices.
Implement and monitor internal control systems.
Oversee the Asset Manager and functions related to position. Assist with forecasting capital needs for complete property portfolio
Assist Director of Property Management and designated staff in marketing efforts and lease up of residential and commercial portfolio. Provide guidance to identify initial tenants as properties come online. Understand special needs population requirements of projects. Oversee the Director of Property Management who will coordinate day-to-day property management department functions, compliances, collections, lease ups, move outs, etc.
Assist and consult with decisions related to RUPCO’s computer system and IT consultants.
Participate as a member of the executive management council.
Participate in training and educational seminars as needed to maintain current skills and to expand expertise as may be required to implement organization’s programs and projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field is required, with a Master’s degree desired.
10+ years of responsible accounting and finance experience with the ability to forecast and develop budgets, with a significant amount of the required experience being with a not-for-profit real estate development agency.
Experience supervising a staff of three or more
Experience with grant funding helpful
Must be able to work independently.
Proven organizational skills and attention to detail is a must
Proficiency in Excel, Yardi, and other Accounting Software necessary
