MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE, Student Financial Services (SFS), to be responsible for all financial systems, internal controls, and financial reporting within Student Financial Services (SFS). Responsibilities include proactively seeking opportunities for process improvements and creative solutions using a systematic, multistep approach; ongoing analysis and reporting on tuition and fees, federal student aid, and loan programs; ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of student financial accounts originating from multiple platforms and revenue streams and ensuring SFS accounting and financial systems remain compliant with federal and internal policies; overseeing the fiscal year-end close of SFS accounts and federal aid financial reporting; and collaborating with colleagues within SFS and the MIT Office of the Vice President for Finance on recommending and implementing new accounting policies and procedures. Will also lead the SFS accounting and finance team by providing managerial oversight; articulating job expectations and responsibilities; and providing day-to-day mentoring, training, and support.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; at least seven years' related experience in financial accounting or audit, including supervising staff; comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures; experience with financial reporting and analysis, implementing and maintaining internal controls, budgeting, and financial statement preparation and analysis; excellent end-to-end generalist problem-solving skills, including developing actionable recommendations and taking full ownership for driving projects; excellent verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; willingness to collaborate and be flexible when modifying approach as required by the situation; and sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to interact effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Salary range: $91,350 - 115,000
This position is currently designated as a hybrid position. Will be eligible to work a combination of in-office days and remote days each week.
