POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Assistant Vice President for Finance directs the Business and Finance Office, comprised of the Bursar, Controller, Mailroom, Property Management, Purchasing and Contracts, Receiving and Student Services Accounting. The AVP is the college???s internal control officer and audit liaison. In addition, the AVP is the treasurer of the Bernard M. Baruch College Association and the Bernard M. Baruch Auxiliary Enterprises Corporation.
Additional Responsibilities include:
- Direct internal control campus-wide self-assessment process and overseeing college audits.
- Oversee financial reporting to the University and financial audits.
- Manage CUNY board resolution process for procurement according to mandated threshold amount.
- Ensure streamlined and effective business operations in all departments reporting to the AVP.
- Align goals and objectives with college strategic initiatives.
- Document policies, protocols and procedures.
- Prepare internal financial reports as required.
- Attend CUNY meetings and convey relevant information to the college.
- Perform all other tasks assigned by the VPAF.
Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY???s Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor???s degree and eight years??? related experience.
Other Qualifications :
- A MBA or related degree and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in upper management in higher education or another large organization of similar complexity.
- Experience in accounting, budgeting or financial services required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required, including an ability to communicate financial information and policy to others.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Highest level of professional integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage an effective team and collaborate with others.
