This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Research Administration & Finance. Financial responsibilities include projecting the colleges revenue and expenses for the University quarterly reports and overseeing the college's purchasing and monthly reconciliation process. They will make recommendations to the Assistant Dean relating to projected and actual budget performance for the college with multiple funding sources including operating ($46M), sponsored project ($18M), gift ($5M), endowment, and discretionary accounts. Oversee accounting operations of all funds and ensures that units are spending within projections. Assist the Assistant Dean in developing the annual hybrid budget for the college. They will also play a role in developing budgets and tracking expenses for the College's growing regional campus.
They will also have a solid understanding of HR, financial and research data and will be able to draw correlations between data sets. They will have strong excel skills and knowledge of advanced functions to manipulate and combine data from multiple sources. They will have experience using reporting tools such as Cognos to extract data from the university's data warehouse. They will present data in multiple formats to the Associate Dean to assist with analyzing budget to actual performance in all areas. They will ensure that all data is accurate to facilitate strategic decision making.
They will supervise two Associate Directors of Finance.
Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years budget experience in a university and/or business setting required. MBA preferred. Advanced excel skills including the ability to combine and manipulate data from multiple sources. The ideal candidate will have a passion for analyzing and understanding data and would be able to quickly recognize and resolve discrepancies. Strong communication, supervision, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Experience working with university data and knowledge of Banner, Concur, Cognos and Argos preferred.
