Summary:

Full-time, exempt position. Ensures financial accountability and oversees the financial operations of the agency in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Directs financial activities such as cash and bank account management, procurement, and investments for all or part of the organization. Als plays a key role in business planning and developing agency budgets,

Duties:

1.     Ensure timely, accurate reporting of financial information to the President and Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.

2.     Perform periodic analyses of income, expenses and assets and produce financial statements and reports.

3.     Maintain and oversee the organization’s system of accounts; general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting and budgetary controls.

4.     Maintain corporate documents and ensure the organization complies with reporting requirements of Federal, State and County agencies.

5.     Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions, reconcile company credit card expenses with statements, bank and investment accounts.

6.     Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and petty cash.

7.     Coordinate preparation of the annual budget and assist agency leadership in developing budgets for new programs and contracts.

8.     Supervise assigned employees as follows:

• Orient and train new employees, counsel staff as needed.
• Evaluate performance of staff.
• Delegate appropriate tasks and audit the quality, completeness and timelessness of assigned duties.
• Provide technical financial guidance.

9.     Coordinate preparation for and provide support for independent audits under the direction of the President and Chief Executive Officer.

10.  Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management and accounting.

11.  Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and ensure the payroll process is managed efficiently and promptly.

12.  Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that the agency maintains financial health and all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

13.  Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-       Understanding of and the ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

-       Strong bookkeeping and business administration experience. Non-profit experience preferred.

-       Experience with federal contract and grant accounting experience required.

-       Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite and software applications, especially accounting software (currently Paycom and Sage Intacct).  Strong ability to learn and adapt to new applications.

-       Proficiency in use of office equipment such as network copiers, network computers, internet, 10-key by touch, scanner and fax machines.  Typing speed 50+wpm.

-       Excellent organizational skills, ability to accurate produce work products in a timely fashion

-       Ability to work in confidential work environment with sensitive information. Must adhere to all federal HIPPA laws and regulations and sign a confidentiality agreement.

-       Thorough familiarity with Human Resource processes and requirements.

-       Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

-       Authorized to work in the US.

-       Valid driver’s license.

-       Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

-       Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

-       CPR and First Aid Certification is required

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen after accepting a conditional offer of employment.
