WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Consultant for our Washington, DC office (and other national office locations) in our Transit / Rail Finance Service Area. The Sr. Consultant position offers great opportunities for professional growth. You will work directly with industry thought leaders to identify and apply evolving requirements and innovative practices to large, highly visible projects across the United States.
Your Impact
- Leading the development of financial models
- Performing quantitative analyses and data analytics with little to no guidance
- Analyzing financial needs and opportunities for transportation agencies with little to no guidance
- Analyzing project and program funding and financing options with little to no guidance
- Researching industry trends
- Evaluating alternatives and priorities
- Developing the business case for infrastructure investments
- Leading the development of written reports and supporting grant applications
- Supporting and/or leading client meetings and workshops
- Tracking, reviewing, and interpreting federal legislation and guidance
- Providing strategic support in all phases of infrastructure planning and project development
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Basic understanding of inflation and cost drivers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated research skills and experience
- Ability to think creatively, work independently, and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a small team environment, synthesize problems, and communicate point of view and analytical results
- Manage time efficiently while supporting multiple projects in parrallel
- Interest or experience in public transportation, infrastructure, and related sectors
- Significant experience using Microsoft Office’s suite of applications (Docx, PPT, XLS) and their higher level capabilities
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in electrification finance
- Analytical skills (including Excel financial modeling skills)
- Knowledge of F1F9 modeling standards
- Writing skills (and demonstrated experience)
- Communication skills
- Research skills
- Relevant experience (e.g., engineering, planning, transportation)
- Familiarity with Federal Transit Administration and other US Department of Transportation funding and financing programs such as the Capital Investment Grants Program; Section 5307, 5337, and 5339 formula programs; other discretionary grant programs; and federal financing programs such as TIFIA and RRIF.
- Problem-solving and strategic planning ability
