The Director of Administration and Finance serves as a key strategist with the School of Medicine's Associate Dean at Benioff Children's Hospital, Oakland (BCH Oakland) in initiating and developing long- and short-range plans and new initiatives. The Dean's Office at Benioff Children's Hospital, Oakland will be focused on building connections with the Oakland campus to the School of Medicine, so this role will be involved in a highly complex and unique organization that has little to no precedence. Therefore, the Director must use advanced concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues and exercise a high level of judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
The Director will work to maximize the utilization of all unit and program resources and to provide and maintain administrative excellence in all aspects of operations - including space planning, finance, research administration, information technology, human resources, and risk management.
The Director will supervise an executive assistant and will have working relationships or close collaborations with an Education Coordinator and various Division and Department Managers with BCH Oakland Departments. It is the responsibility of the Director to apply advanced knowledge and training expertise to anticipate issues before they arise, reprioritize as events change, anticipate the needs of involved parties and initiate action independently to resolve those issues and solve problems. The Director position requires a high level of professionalism and diplomacy.
