The UMAA Finance Specialist reports to the accounting manager and supports the Association’s financial and office operations. The position advances the mission of the organization by managing, entering and reconciling expense and revenue transactions. The role is a resource to all staff with transaction inquiries and corrections.
Essential Functions*: (85% of Job)
- Enter or supervise the entry membership transactions into membership database
- Enter or supervise the entry of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Create and distribute checks
- Create and enter general ledger deposit entities
- Oversee staff and supervisor expense line-item recording and approval
- Create and enter credit card and reimbursement entries
- Provide assistance to Reconcile credit card merchant account payment gateway activity vs. on-line source transactions through batch processing. Enter deposit information into the general ledger
- Assist Director of Membership marketing in membership fulfillment tasks
- Download and process telemarketing transactions
- Prepare new and renewed member card files
- Receive, stamp and distribute bills and invoices
NonâEssential Functions: (15% of Job)
- Assistance with special events
- Provide support for data inquiry requests
- Other duties as assigned

This is a non-exempt position paying up to $24/hour depending on experience and includes paid leave and other benefits. The position currently can work remotely most of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of related bookkeeping, banking, or accounting reconciliation experience. Training and education may be substituted for some years of experience.
- High school diploma/GED
- General computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office and Google app programs.
- Skilled in computer navigation and use of accounting software
- Ability to pass background check for PCI compliance certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with non-profit organizations
- Experience with Dynamics Great Plains
- Familiarity with databases and data entry processes
- Experience with reconciliations
- Some supervisory experience
- Experience with membership transactions
To be successful in the position, a person will:
- Be able to accurately enter transactions and reconcile them
- Be able to provide direction to student assistants entering transactions
- An ability to learn multi-step processes and to efficiently repeat them
- Maintain a commitment to consistently providing very good customer service to other staff and alumni
- An understanding of bookkeeping and the accounting cycle
- An ability to change tasks quickly and remain productive
