1. Solve complex business issues from strategy to execution, identify and lead the implementation of finance process improvement efforts related to various Finance processes. Focus on finance process improvements to a) reduce error rate b) increase the processing speed c) better utilize systems. Create value through streamlined business processes and automation, and increased quality. Lead projects with internal or third-party resources to expand our finance capabilities & execute complex business process improvement initiatives. 2. Guide and drive organizational process improvement within Finance and identify automation opportunities to streamline processes and procedures. 3. Work toward business process optimization and gain access to a full range of financial capabilities, relevant analytics and metrics, and fully auditable process management that delivers accurate and timely financial information for confident analysis & decision making with Workday 4. Explore ways to improve financial closing processes and utilize machine learning to enhance reconciliation, operational and reporting processes 5. Ensure alignment between the business and technical needs and objectives while focusing on best practices, awareness of emerging trends and striving towards innovative solutions 6. Assess finance operations & drive identification of organizational and workflow changes that align with the vision of future-state delivery models. 7. Identify and present new project opportunities to leadership, build a pipeline of valuable projects that can be easily prioritized because the benefits have been clearly defined and quantified. 8. Consider operational issues that arise & potential solutions for how best to implement them 9. Drive best practices, challenge status quo and be a champion of change culture 10. Collaborate with varied stakeholders, including departmental units, YSM central, central process owners and university senior leadership. Gain consensus amongst the constituents. Deploy a quantitative approach to understanding and clarifying problems. Develop a logical framework and analytical plan for execution. 11. Develop problem solutions by describing requirements in a workflow chart and diagram; study system capabilities; analyze alternate solutions 12. Analyze workflow and procedures to expand operational knowledge 13. Collect and analyze data to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of various business activities. 14. Recommend changes to or formalization of guidelines to enable consistent processes 15. Lead projects through completion, track, monitor, report and coordinate 16. Identify opportunities to improve processes and recommend solutions 17. Designs, constructs, and executes analyses to understand root cause and make recommendations to the Finance leadership team (people, process and technology).
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Eight years progressively responsible experience involving finance and administrative operations management within a higher education or related environment. Deep knowledge of Yale chart of accounts, financial reporting and internal control.
