The Business Finance Manager in the Research Financial Operations department is responsible for managing the clinical research revenue cycle, financial analysis and billing compliance of clinical research studies that involve more than 20 specialty practice areas.
The Business Finance Manager serves as the primary business liaison between Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) and/or study sponsors, the Cook Children’s clinical research team, and appropriate Medical Center personnel using effective and professional communication and extensive professional knowledge of complex drug and medical device industry business expectations and practices.
The Business Finance Manager oversees the budget development and negotiation process with industry customers relating to clinical studies, works with the Epic Business Analysts to ensure relevant financial elements are properly reflected in the EMR, reviews / corrects / approves study charges to ensure appropriate parties are being charged for research services, and satisfies compliance with federal and state clinical trial billing regulations. The incumbent also performs study financial analysis to ensure support for commercial studies is financially viable.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting required.
Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration preferred.
5 years of budget development, financial analysis and / or financial management in a healthcare or pharmaceutical / medical device development setting required.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, health care accounting and at least some familiarity with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations preferred.
