Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintain a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities. In addition to sourcing and managing these investments, the groups are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key industry contacts and referral sources. The mortgage portfolio and equity portfolio units are organized according to specialty, and they actively manage MetLife's portfolio of mortgage loans and equity investments in agricultural, office, apartment, retail, industrial, and hotel properties. The portfolio units are responsible for overall portfolio strategy, pricing, transaction approval and credit approval on new loans, as well as the active management of the overall mortgage and equity portfolios. MetLife Agricultural Finance's Agri-business Group is seeking an exceptional person to work as a Senior Credit Analyst for Food and Agribusiness Lending. This a Senior Credit Analyst position will be part of a national agri-business team responsible for the origination and servicing of mortgage loans in the food and agri-business sectors across the continental United States.
Key Responsibilities:
This opportunity is focused on support of the origination and servicing of mortgage loans in the food and agri-business sector, providing support to Loan Producers and Regional Office Management for the following functions:
- Business development and asset (loan) origination.
- Relationship management in collaboration with the team.
- Portfolio Management.
- Take the lead role in credit underwriting, and Financing Memo preparation in collaboration with the Loan Producer.
- Industry research on industries that we finance.
- Collaboration with the Loan Closing team and Loan Producer for loan closings.
- Coordination of Loan servicing/reporting in collaboration with the Loan Producer
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Required:
- 5+ years of Commercial Real Estate or Agricultural experience in the following:
- Commercial credit analysis and decision-making.
- Portfolio and Relationship management.
- Established network of key contacts and prospects preferred.
- Commercial credit portfolio administration.
- MS Office Suite Word and Excel-based applications (create spreadsheets/formulas).
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer and peer relationships.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Business, Finance, Accounting or Agriculture); MBA a plus.
