Position Summary:

Reporting to and in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Finance is responsible for the preparation, review and oversight of the School's annual and long-term operating budgets, overall accounting operations including gift, contract and grant, and self-supporting revenue generating programs. The Director works closely with the Assistant Dean, Associate Deans and Dean on strategy to achieve the School's financial goals and objectives. The Director acts with a large degree of autonomy under broad guidelines from the CFO and oversees monthly reporting and operational activities. The Director regularly meets and consults with the CFO, faculty, senior managers, directors, and department managers on a wide array of financial matters pertaining to the day-to-day operational and short- and long-range strategic planning needs of the School. The Director provides strategic data analysis and decision support to the Dean, Vice Dean, and senior managers with a focus on key financial performance indicators and assessment of student, faculty, resource management and external influences. The Director oversees annual reporting to the American Bar Association (ABA), US News, external agencies, and the campus. In addition, the Director leads and engages the Law School's finance team to maximize organizational performance by focusing on organizational strategies, operational performance, employee performance and ensures a positive working environment and successful employee experience

Bachelor's Degree in related area or equivalent experience and/or training
Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems; budgeting and reporting techniques; fund accounting; accounting and bookkeeping. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations. Client services oriented; good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize projects, deep-work focus when needed to meet deadlines, multitask and delegate as needed. Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Advanced skills in excel and all Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance and / or equivalent experience and/or training
Professional certification preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of leadership fundamentals, and ability to plan and organize, and to align performance for success, and continuous improvement. Prioritizes a positive work environment and successful employee experience. Experienced in supervising, managing and motivating team members daily. Values collaboration and creates an environment that fosters innovation, trust and encourages their team to deliver top notch services.
