General summary/purpose:
The ERP Business Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day activities and tasks assigned within the Finance/Sponsored Projects team. Tasks will include assignments related to Analysis, Configuration, Implementation, Support, and Maintenance within relevant areas in the SAP system as well as integration with external systems.
Specific duties & Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for the daily triage of inbound system incidents identified by business users of the SAP Finance/Sponsored Projects application, determination of the priority of the issue and resolution, as able. Collaborating with other business analysts, the position will research system errors for known solutions and assist with general maintenance and system support activities. The position will also work collaboratively on projects to deliver enhancements and extended business functionality to business users. The position will participate as needed in system implementations, periodic release review and preparation of documentation to translate system changes to business users. The team works in an agile hybrid scrum environment. Analysts attend scrum meetings to update the internal team on project status. Analysts are responsible for assisting in planning and estimating of their project work and logging their time to the respective projects.
Describe the specific devices, software, projects for which the position is responsible:
The position will be responsible for elements of the SAP ERP system which is the primary financial and administrative system for the Johns Hopkins enterprise. By supporting the full integration of various integrated business processes, work assignments can involve significant complexity.
Describe scale/size of area, project and/or system supported:
The SAP ERP system supports the entire Johns Hopkins enterprise comprising virtually all business entities of both Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System and their employees.

On call requirements (if applicable):
- Must be available to support unplanned system issues and planned upgrades during non-business hours.
- There is no regularly scheduled on call work.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or relevant functional area.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in one or more of the following modules within the SAP ERP system: Finance, Controlling, Funds Management, Grants Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Systems, Fixed Assets or Cash Management.
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience configuring one or more of the following modules within the SAP ERP system: Finance, Controlling, Funds Management, Grants Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Systems, Fixed Assets or Cash Management. Experience in other SAP modules.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to write functional design specifications and communicate with development staff. Maintain configuration documentation resulting from system issues and business requests. Effective communication skills across multiple audiences, notably other FI team members, other EBS teams and business users.
