POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Finance is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance team. This individual will ensure timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial statements, revenue, expenses, preparation of financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for senior leaders, product line owners and other key stakeholders.
Under the guidance of the CFO, the Director of Finance is responsible for ACSM's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports for internal staff as well as board and volunteer leaders. The position involves supervision over general accounting and budgetary controls.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials and metrics for staff, ACSM Board of Trustees and Foundation board of directors.
- Manage finance department staff to ensure smooth day-to-day transactions; hire and retain support staff as needed in the future.
- Serve as a business partner to the CFO on the organization’s financial, budgeting, and administrative processes with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems.
- Track important KPIs and analyze trends
- Forecast return on investment (ROI) for current and future programs
- Work with the CFO in developing and monitoring budgets
- Work with the CFO to engage pertinent staff and budget owners to accurately prepare monthly forecasts
- Inform key stakeholders of financial status and investment plans
- Ensure all financial operations comply with federal and state laws
- Work with CFO to coordinate the annual financial statement audit
- Work with CFO to implement and enforce appropriate system of internal accounting controls
- Serve as the secondary liaison to the Budget and Finance Committee, coordinating quarterly calls and presenting investment and financial updates as needed.
SKILLS:
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management and forecasting methods
- Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software (e.g. Sage, Great Plains)
- Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
- Experience should include legal, audit, compliance and budget development
- Expertise in MS Excel
- Ability to explain financial terms in simple language

- Demonstrated successes in the areas of performance management and fostering growth within team members.
- Financial management including developing and managing a budget; revenue forecasting and expense management.

- Background and passion for sports medicine and exercise science and/or values-driven business operations highly desirable.
