The Director of Technical Accounting will work closely with the various members of the Global Finance team in performing complex accounting analyses and report to Vice President, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. * Research technical accounting matters and prepare well-written memorandums and presentations articulating these matters, including Revenue Recognition, Impairment Analyses, Fair Value Accounting, Lease Accounting, and VIE/Consolidation Analyses, Stock-based compensation accounting, Investment Accounting, Segment Reporting, and other significant/unusual transactions. * Review contracts, evaluate and communicate accounting consequences of potential transactions. * Lead the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes. * Identify, scope evaluate and implement new and evolving ASUs and/or SEC requirements impact. * Make recommendations for improving system efficiencies and business practices as needed and ensuring that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud. * Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment. * Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance. * Assist with training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES *
May provide formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. * Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. * Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. * Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. * Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. * Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
