Leyline Renewable Capital is seeking a hardworking individual with a passion to learn, grow, and contribute as an Associate Director on the Project Finance team. The Associate Director will be responsible for managing Leyline’s investments through all stages of their life cycle. The role will be focused on renewable energy power infrastructure projects in the U.S. and Canada with a strong concentration on solar, wind, battery storage, and renewable natural gas technologies. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Associate Director role is multi-disciplinary, cutting across all aspects of deal origination through to financial close and, ultimately, successful repayment of Leyline’s investment.
The primary purpose of this position is to support the deployment of development capital and bridge lending opportunities for the company, to maintain an integrated flow of project communication and task management, and to serve as the “deal team lead” by coordinating internal and external Leyline resources to underwrite, close, and manage investments.

Your responsibilities as an Associate Director will include:
Support Origination team to coordinate, analyze, and negotiate a variety of transactions and structures, including financial modeling, drafting and negotiating key terms of investments, and/or acquisitions
Serve as deal team lead on a portfolio of investments, guiding each deal through closing by coordinating all internal and external resources to underwrite, negotiate, document, and approve investments
Present deals to management and advocate for risk and return propositions
Create and maintain financial models used at various stages throughout an investment’s term to assess economic feasibility of the projects, track impacts of changes to commercial terms, and maintain perspective on the investment thesis
Analyze project documentation and information, typically under rapidly changing conditions, to build appropriate legal, collateral, and technical structures in conjunction with internal Leyline teams
Identify critical investment risks, and prepare summaries and other internal investment
documentation to support due diligence, underwriting, and deal structuring
Provide institutional memory for investments post-closing, supporting the Asset Management team in advising and financial modeling for amendments and other changes to commercial terms
Attend check-ins with portfolio investments periodically; strategize investment exits and support execution on exits to achieve target
Assist in origination of development stage and other lending opportunities for renewable energy projects
Assist in managing internal customer relationship management processes and software for the investment portfolio, including process oversight, data entry, company reporting, deal team review, and building repeat business with existing clients
Develop and manage relationships with developers, banks, equity/debt providers, consulting firms, and other deal flow partners
Attend conferences, management meetings, introductory meetings with developers, executives, and investment bankers
Keep abreast of market trends and look for new opportunities for capital deployment
Demonstrated understanding of financial structuring, including debt and equity project structures
Strong command over complex financial models with the ability to build financial models from scratch
Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit
Superior communication skills across all internal and external stakeholders including investors, bankers, counsel, senior management as well as internal teams including investment committees
Team player who can manage multiple priorities and quickly adapt to rapidly changing deal and development demands, including setting and meeting realistic deadlines
High degree of curiosity, creativity, proactive mentality, and desire to work in entrepreneurial and collaborative environment and join our mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Graduate degree in, business, public policy, or environmental degree preferred
5+ years of direct work experience in investment banking, renewable energy finance, project development,and/or principal investing
Demonstrated relevant experience in renewable energy
Experience in building renewable energy project models, with emphasis on an understanding of development stage costs and
Expertise in offtake, advisory, capital markets, or similar
Large network in the renewable energy industry
