The Director of Finance will lead Community Vision’s day-to-day finance operations, including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants fiscal compliance, treasury and risk management functions.
The first priority for this position is to ensure timely and efficient accounting for Community Vision. As such the ideal candidate will be comfortable and effective in performing and supervising day to day accounting functions in a nonprofit organization, overseeing the work of the finance manager. The Director of Finance will have the versatility to provide analytical review of programs, and the ability to see the big picture and provide strategic advice and support to the leadership team and the board.
Develop and maintain systems, policies, and controls to ensure timely and accurate financial accounting records while assuring the organization complies with its policies and program requirements consistent with GAAP and the specific requirements of contracts and funding agreements.
In partnership with the Executive Director, board, and senior leadership team, generate and manage budgeting, financial forecasting, operating plans and modeling tools, providing support and training to team members as needed.
In partnership with the Executive Director, provide effective management of treasury related functions including banking relationships, lines of credit, cash flow planning and management, oversight of investments within the guidelines provided by board approved investment policies.
Oversee risk management functions. Ensure adequate cost-effective insurance to prudently cover all the affairs of the organization, including property loss, liability, directors’ and officers’ exposure.
As a member of the senior leadership team, contribute to the maintenance of key performance indicators that assist the team and the board to understand and measure current and past trends in program revenues, costs of fundraising and marketing, the impact of programs and expenses, and other areas that support the viability and growth of the organization.
Supervise Finance Manager in the undertaking of day-to-day bookkeeping as well as general administrative duties in regard to various functions including, for example, office activities, building management and other miscellaneous matters.
The Ideal Candidate will have demonstrated the ability to roll-up sleeves and work collaboratively in a hands-on capacity; will be articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills; will have the ability to think creatively, to be self-motivated, and to work independently and/or with teams; will have the ability to construct analytical models for programs and grants, while producing summary-level information for executive review; and will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and professional experience in Accounting or Finance.
7+ years accounting experience with at least 2 years as accounting manager with overall responsibility for accounting functions.
A minimum of 3 years in nonprofit sector and grants management, preferred.
Proficient in the use of a variety of computer programs and systems; including, but limited to QuickBooks, Windows, Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite - with an emphasis on Word and Excel.
Must maintain strict confidentiality according to HIPPA at all times.
Approved Criminal History Check through the Oregon Department of Human Services Background Check Unit. Must meet background check approval requirements for the duration of employment (refer to background check instructions/Employee Handbook for more details).
Must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 coronavirus in accordance with CV policies.
