The Statistical Analysis of Biomedical and Educational Research (SABER) unit is the data coordinating center for several multi-center clinical trials and observational studies. We are a research center located within the Biostatistics Department at the School of Public Health (SPH) on Michigan's central campus. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic staff member with a the ability to understand diverse perspectives and acknowledge the significance of differences and complexities in backgrounds, cultures, values, and viewpoints as the foundation for an inclusive environment. As the Research Finance Associate, you will provide financial, procurement, and administrative support to the research administration and project management teams. You will report to the Manager of Research.
Create clinical site invoices and monitor purchase orders
Help in financial reporting
Process accounts payable transactions
Procurement support, including:
Coordinate sole source justifications
Gather information for pre-approval of expenses
Track sponsored program spending
Travel and expense support, including:
Arrange travel for SABER staff
Process expense reports through Concur
Provide support to off-site meetings
Administrative support, including:
Maintain excellent records
Assist with document formatting and copyediting

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
2+ years of financial work experience
Experience with purchasing, budget review, and reconciliation
Knowledge of accounting principles and applications
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
Experience with M-Pathways financial modules, M-Reports, Business Objects, and Concur
Experience with sponsored research and the post-award accounting process
Knowledge of UM policies and procedures
Knowledge of UM organizational structure
