Position Summary
The Program Manager for the Wells Fargo Advisors Center for Finance and Accounting Research in the Olin School of Business is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the WFA - CFAR with an emphasis on promoting the Center to potential corporate affiliates. The goal of the Program Manager is to develop relationships between faculty, corporate accounting and finance leaders, Olinâ™s Weston Career Center, Olin degree programs and the Centerâ™s Advisory Board to develop and provide students with opportunities to interact at all levels with the goal of exposure to multiple facets of careers in accounting and finance. This will be done by developing a strategic plan and working in a systematic and disciplined process to deliver mutual value to all parties.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Business Development and Relationship Management
- Based on the strategic vision and intent developed by the Center director, design and implement a strategic business plan and effective solicitation and stewardship strategies for expanding awareness of the Center, creating paths of engagement and attracting industry partners.
- Strategize with the Director of Olin Corporate Relations to plan and executive key initiatives to engage industry leaders.Â
- Proactively identify potential corporate relation opportunities and communicate information on the Centerâ™s initiatives.Â
- Partner with the Centerâ™s Director and Corporate Relations team to execute corporate relation strategy and outreach.
- Show initiative to organize, manage and participate in all aspects of WFA - CFAR corporate events, activities and meetings.
- Act as liaison between the Center, the Director, Olin Business School business leaders and visiting professors.
Program Management
- The person in this position is responsible for planning, implementing, communicating and evaluating the development of the Olin Business Schoolâ™s advancement toward the intersection of business, faculty and students.Â
- Must build consensus and maintain collaborative partnerships with faculty, students, corporate leaders, degree programs and the Weston Career Center to develop strategies, activities and programs to advance the initiatives of the WFA - CFAR.
- Manages, evaluates and oversees the extensive array of current and future activities of the WFA - CFAR including but not limited to planning, regular meetings, mentor program, conferences, student career aspirations in Finance and Accounting and special events.
- Develops and executes a mentoring program for current Advisory Board members and Olin students. After creation of a strategy take the lead in recruiting mentors and students.Â
- Collaborates with Center Director and Olin Corporate Relations for matching process.
- Works with faculty and student clubs/teams to develop programs to meet needs to advance student participation in WFA - CFAR activities with the objective of helping students achieve career objectives in the area of Finance and Accounting.
- Creates an annual schedule of programs and associated program budgets, recruit faculty and presenters for academic as well as WFA - CFAR networking events, obtain required information from faculty and presenters to market the programs.
- Develops proactive strategies and initiatives that advance WFA - CFARâ™s brand and business objectives.Â
- Works on production and distribution of the CFAR annual report and the in-house journal See Far.
Event/Project Management
- Organizes and manages all facets of WFA - CFAR events and activities, including yearly academic/corporate conferences, bi-annual board meetings, corporate roundtables with top executives, annual seminar series, annual reports and other publications, facilitate and act as host for the Olin Finance Club speakers. etc.
- Supervises the collaboration with other University offices, including the Deanâ™s office, Knight Center staff, Marketing and Communications staff, Olin faculty and administrators, other Olin personnel and outside Universities and vendors to effectively coordinate and manage WFA - CFAR events.
- Executes special projects and other duties as defined by the WFA - CFAR Director.
- Oversees Administrative staff to ensure events are managed appropriately with regard to budgeting, date selection, speakers, meeting space, hotel reservations, travel accommodations notices and announcements, schedules, catering, mailing list development and management, transportation, audio-equipment arrangement, invitation design, printing, correspondence, follow-up, reimbursements and all other logistical event management.
- Develops and implements a marketing strategy of âœWFA - CFARâ brand spanning across Olin Finance and Accounting curriculum to enhance the career development of Olin Finance and Accounting students.
- Creates, launches and manages Centerâ™s marketing initiatives.
- Develops communications, including invitations, memos, letters, emails, announcements etc. on behalf of the Center for distribution both internally and externally.
- Steers brand message of Olin corporate relations initiatives through collaboration with marketing and communications.
- Further develop Center strategy for web site copy and literature, promotional materials, activity reports, letters, etc. and ensure distribution to appropriate corporate partners and Center affiliates in order to attract additional participation in WFA - CFAR activities.Â
- Works with faculty on linking MSF/MBA student teams with companies for practicum projects, and assist in the management of the process.
Financial/Operations Management
- Develop and implement policies and procedures designed to improve planning, decision-making and overall administration for the Center.
- Responsible for day to day management of the Centerâ™s financial operations, including transaction processing, payments, monitoring and processing, approvals, reporting, budget planning, financial planning and analysis.Â
- Develops, provides and maintains internal Center budget and financial reports for the centerâ™s Director.Â
- Collaborates with the Centerâ™s Director on all financial and budget decisions.Â
- Analyzes current and projected departmental financial operations and work closely with the Centerâ™s Director in fiscal decision-making.
- Works with faculty on linking MSF/MBA student teams with companies for practicum projects, and assist in the management of the process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Five to seven yearsâ™ experience in a customer facing role at both the University and corporate level.
- Event planning and execution.
- Management experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Accuracy and efficiency in managing work load.
- Ability to work independently and move along institutional initiatives with little supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and communicate effectively.
Required Qualifications
Bachelorsâ™ degree with three years related experience or Masterâ™s and one year of related experience.

Salary Range
$45,800.00 - $75,900.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
