Job Summary: Furman University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor in Finance with specialization in investments, banking, analytics, and/or financial modeling. This is a clinical position with a focus on teaching, advising students, and community engagement. A master's degree in finance or business is required at the time of appointment. Position commences in August 2022.
A successful candidate will be active in the finance field and eager to develop high-impact, engaged learning experiences for undergraduates as part of The Furman Advantage. Such activities might include mentoring, directing students in course -related projects in the community, and overseeing extracurricular activities such as the Investment Club. The candidate will mentor students interested in graduate school or careers in finance. A commitment to strengthening Furman's ties to the community and cultivating new academic and long-term community collaborations with local
agencies, non-profits, corporations and other partners to promote financial literacy and enhance student learning is also desirable. Furman values respectful civil dialogue and promotes an inclusive student-faculty community. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be able to work with a diverse student population and assist the university in its continuing efforts to become a model of inclusive excellence.
The candidate should have significant experience as a finance professional as well as a record of involvement in relevant professional organizations. Teaching, mentoring, or conference leadership experience is desirable and professional licensure or certification in financial planning or another area of finance is preferred.
The teaching load is typically five courses per academic year. In addition to Introduction to Corporate Finance courses, the candidate will ideally be prepared to teach finance electives related to their area of expertise. Such courses might include Investments Management, Finance and Markets, Financial Planning, Business Analytics, and Personal Finance.
