Carnegie Mellon University's Finance Division is seeking a motivated Senior Accounts Payable Representative to join our team. You will assist the Accounts Payable manager and assistant manager in ensuring effective and efficient daily operations of the department, and provide guidance and mentorship to the AP representatives. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, you will assist in oversight of day to day operations of Accounts Payable representatives and serve as a back-up to all Accounts Payable representatives, as needed.
Core responsibilities include:
Performing all accounts payable functions, including but not limited to data entry, research and payment of supplier invoices, processing credit memos and supplier checks received
Researches and resolves payable issues with campus and external representatives of the University
Provides customer support through multiple types of communications
Responsible for payment processing for multiple ledgers
Work with departments and vendors on invoice and payment issues as they occur
Assist and provide guidance and/or supervision as needed to colleagues when learning new tasks and provide training
Assist with University initiatives
Responsible for other general accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Assist with the preparation of documentation Accounts Payable processes and procedures
Assist with International accounts payable functions as well as support other staff with International accounts payable function
Assist with special projects as requested to support of the overall Accounts Payable mission
Other duties as assigned
You must demonstrate:
Ability to process payments subject to federal and state tax withholding
Assist manager with 1099 reporting requirements
Ability to expertly balance multiple and competing priorities and to thrive in a fast paced environment
Ability to work independently and work well in a team environment
Ability to solve problems as they arise independently

High School or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's is highly desired.
3-5 years of experience in Accounts payable experience in a customer focused environment
Prior experience with Oracle or similar financial systems strongly preferred
