Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Budget and Financial Analysis, the Finance Manager will oversee the annual operating budget including physician practices, grants, and fund balance activity, with a specific focus on the clinical enterprise.
Provides assistance to departments in the preparation of annual budgets, interface with various finance teams on monthly, quarterly and annual financial drivers and outcomes, promulgate guidelines and review submissions.
Monitors actual results vis-??-vis approved budgets; identifies shortfalls; recommends steps to correct shortfalls; prepares and distributes financial reports on a regular basis which will enable departments to identify trends; recommends revisions to reports to improve financial information; reviews and analyzes department business plans, faculty recruits and financial forecasts.
Attend routine status meetings with departmental administrators, gaining insight and knowledge regarding financial operating activity.
Provide regular reporting to senior leadership of P&S Finance on the financial health of the units; advises, educates, and serves as an internal consultant for departmental fiscal officers and senior management on budget and financial issues.
Identify, recommend and implement changes to processes and procedures to improve workflow; compiles information; organize, analyze and review internal cost allocation methodologies; recommends changes as appropriate.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requires a bachelor???s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field business/finance or equivalent in education and experience; plus four years of experience in a large complex academic medical setting.
Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.
Ability to analyze and coalesce data from multiple systems and present it in a straightforward format (both financial and narrative).
Ability to identify solutions to complex problems.
Cutting edge skills with financial systems including spreadsheet preparation and presentation.
Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work independently.
