Hofstra University a NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Colonial Athletic Association as well as the EIWA wrestling conference is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Senior Associate or Associate Director of Athletics for Finance and Administration. This person will serve as the Chief Financial Officer for the Hofstra University Department of Athletics and is a member of the departmentâ€™s senior administrative team. This position is responsible for creating an atmosphere of fiscal responsibility and ensuring all NCAA Sports and administrative areas operate within budget and in accordance with University policies and procedures. This position will help implement and establish strategic direction for the department and proactively plan for future financial success and department growth. This role acts as the principal liaison between the universityâ€™s office of Financial Affairs as well as to the office of Human Resources. This position will work with the Vice President and Director of Athletics on the overall development and enhancement of departmental culture, employee relations, organizational structure and fiscal solvency. This position will have supervisory responsibilities over sport programs and other administrative areas.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Business Office/ Financial Affairs â€¢Supervises all aspects of the Athletic Department Business Office. â€¢Acts as the primary contact with the University Business office on all matters and especially on budget preparation, NCAA reporting, the compilation and submission of EADA statistical figures, and financial audits. â€¢Establishes and uphold the department of athleticsâ€™ business policies and practices to ensure the financial well-being of the department. â€¢Develops financial organizational strategies through continued analysis of the departmentâ€™s revenue generation areas, the various administrative and sport programs and financial aid. â€¢Generates financial forecasts â€¢Develops and implements fiscal strategy â€¢Monitors financial performance of each area within our department and initiate corrective actions when necessary to minimize impact at year-end. â€¢Signs off on all athletic department expenditures in coordination with Sr. Associate Director of Athletics.
Human Resources â€¢Serves as the department liaison to Human Resources. â€¢Manages and coordinates all components of the hiring process including: advertisement, screening, interviewing and onboarding of new employees â€¢Prepares staffing figures for Federal and NCAA EADA reports.
Administration â€¢Assists with the day-to-day internal operations of the department. â€¢Serves as a sport program administrator. Works with the coaching staffs regarding all aspects of the programs including scheduling, recruiting, budgets, facilities, academic progress of student-athletes, human resources matters, and performance reviews. â€¢Coordinates all student-athlete requests for intersession and summer school classes. Works with Academic Advising, Compliance and coaches to gather requests and financial implications then meet with VP/Director of Athletics to prioritize and approve requests. â€¢Facilitates the Athletic Policy Committee in conjunction with the VP/Director of Athletics and the Faculty Athletics Representative to ensure that the committee is adhering to the objectives tasked by the university senate. â€¢Supervises the athletic scheduling process; ensure that all areas of the department (Facilities, Communications, Academics, Program administrator Business office and Head coach) are informed and complying with the departmental policies and philosophies regarding scheduling. â€¢Oversees and manage the equipment room and three full time employees â€¢Responsible for coordinating the assignment and payment of officials for all 17-sport programs in conjunction with the conference office. â€¢Other duties as assigned by the VP/Director of Athletics. â€¢This position requires working nights, weekends and occasionally holidays to attend appropriate athletic events â€¢Comply with policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Colonial Athletic Association and the NCAA. â€¢Responsible for knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. If found responsible for a violation of NCAA regulations, will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate. Also may be responsible for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the University has violated an NCAA regulation.
