The College of Veterinary Medicine's Accounting Service Center (ASC) is composed of two teams with a total of 14 team members. The Center's mission is to deliver quality comprehensive financial services and management for the College in procurement, transaction processing, financial accounting and analysis, costing and reporting, while consistently providing excellent customer service and stewardship.
We are seeking a customer-focused, detail-oriented, and collaborative finance professional who will partner with Academic, Enterprise Units, and College Administration in support of their operations. The finance specialist will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to provide advanced-level financial management, analysis and reports to advance the mission of the College and Center.
This position primarily involves:
Providing comprehensive services in financial management, analysis, and reporting.
Utilizing the latest technologies to develop standard and ad hoc reports.
Collaborating with departments to develop a business knowledge that will assure appropriate judgment in accomplishing financial and transactional activities.
Approving financial transactions ensuring complete documentation and compliance to university and college polices.
Processing transactions, including account set-up and maintenance edocs, internal billings, auxiliary vouchers, salary expense transfers (etc.)
Assisting with post-award Sponsored Fund research administration.
Participating and assisting in complex cost analysis to calculate per diem and other rates for the service units and other units, as needed.
Participating, developing and/or implementing reengineering efforts to improve service delivery and/or automate processes.
Associate's degree in business, accounting or related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience as described below or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
The principal qualifications are as follows:
Demonstrated experience independently interpreting, applying, and managing governmental and sponsored funding policies, procedures, and practices (grant and contract management).
Demonstrated experience independently working with financial reporting systems (such as or similar to Kuali Financial System, OBIEE Dashboards, Answers Queries, Web Financials), including reconciling accounts, preparing routine and complex ad hoc reports, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization's finances.
Demonstrated success in working in a dynamic environment where communication and customer service skills were adapted to provide consistent, accurate, and timely service for procurement and transactional processes.
Demonstrated ability to develop a strong understanding of complex financial procedures and policies as well as verifying and proactively ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Demonstrated ability to direct and approve the work flow of transaction specialists, to work collaboratively to resolve problems, and to develop new financial operating procedures while ensuring effective internal controls.
A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field is preferred.
