Devon Preparatory School is a small, private, Catholic school for students in grades six through twelve. The school, owned by the Piarist Fathers, strives to prepare students for lifelong success by presenting a holistic educational program designed to prepare students for college and beyond. With only 300 students attending Devon Prep, and a student: teacher ratio of 4:1, we are able to address the individual educational, social-emotional, and spiritual needs of our population. The school’s campus is set on approximately fifteen acres in close proximity to Valley Forge Park.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Devon Preparatory School (DP) is seeking a hands-on Finance & Administration Manager. The Finance & Administration Manager oversees DP’s finance and administration departments. Responsibilities include managing financial operations and human resources administration to support DP’s short- and long-term strategic goals. The Finance & Administration Manager reports to the Headmaster and is supervised by the Administration team. The Finance & Administration Manager supervises the business office staff. The Finance & Administration Manager assures transparent reporting, understanding of the financial position and provides interpretations to the Headmaster, Administration team and the Board of Trustees. The Finance & Administration Manager is a full-time, exempt position. The schedule for this position is 4 days per week.
Accounting and Financial (50%)
Prepares bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, monthly profit/loss, balance sheet and cash flow financial statements. Monitors, interpret and present financial results of operations each month. Serve as financial liaison with the Board of Trustees, providing financial reports.
Designs, implements, and maintains all accounting functions and controls.
Assures appropriate internal controls, plus evaluates and maintains adequate insurance to safeguard assets and minimize risks.
Meets with Administration team on matters concerning compensation, recruitment, performance appraisals, and staff training.
Advises and counsels leadership team on personnel and management issues.
Advises and counsels staff on personnel policies and procedures including compensation, recruitment and performance.
Oversees employee-related insurance, as well as retirement and medical flex programs.
Oversees payroll, payroll liabilities, and benefits including PTO accrual and retirement plans.
Be able to gather and analyze data; prepare clear, concise and effective reports and recommendations; analyze problems, consider alternatives, draw logical conclusions, and adopt appropriate solutions.
Communicate effectively; meet and deal tactfully with the staff and others; maintain effective working relationships; supervise, guide, and train colleagues and any direct report(s) as needed.
Exhibit initiative, integrity, and sound judgment; coordinate multiple activities with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality; organize work, set priorities meet deadlines and follow-up on assignments; understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Understand, interpret and apply pertinent provisions of laws, rules, policies, legislation and other instructions.
Use a personal computer or other automated equipment and up-to-date software, use the Internet and related technology to do research, to exchange and to perform other related tasks.
4-year degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree and or CPA licensed preferred
A minimum of 5 years of experience as an accountant/finance professional preferably in a non-profit setting
Knowledge of FACTS and QuickBooks is strongly preferred
