The Medical School Administration Finance Professional 2 position will act as the account manager/liaison for VA faculty who have grants at the University of Minnesota as well as support other areas of the Dean’s Office Finance team as needed. Ability to work as part of a team and great customer service skills are needed to succeed in this position.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Med School Admin (MSA) Account Management (65%):
Prepare reports for VA faculty on both sponsored and non-sponsored accounts
Reconcile expenditures on chartstrings
Analyze spending and forecast balances for faculty
Review invoicing and work with SFR for final financial reports
Review subaward invoices and have PI’s approve in financial system
Get signed subaward release forms when needed
Serve as a resource for VA faculty who have funding, or other miscellaneous questions regarding University policies or procedures
Monitor and correct payroll as needed to assist with effort certification
Assist budget manager with budget prep development
Manage UMF balances and draw down funds as needed
Meet with PI’s quarterly to go over reports to assure understanding of balances
Purchasing/receiving supplies for office and labs as needed (Animals and Radioactivity require special procedures)
Prepare travel reimbursements, human subject payments, expense reports, check requests, journal entries and non-PO payments
Prepare/gather information to create Contracts for Professional Services or Purchase Orders for VA selling agreements.
Help maintain the Chart of Accounts for Medical School Administration
Act as backup for Med School Administration purchasing position
Ad hoc reporting
Serve on University of Minnesota or Medical School committees
Take part in development and training opportunities provided by the University of Minnesota
Other duties as assigned

All required qualifications must be documented on application material
BA/BS plus at least two years of professional work experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable working with varies systems: electronic file management, and email software, Microsoft Excel and Word, and Peoplesoft.
Analytical skills with the ability to demonstrate logical thinking in order to gather and analyze a variety of information
Post-award experience and training.
Experience with UM financial systems
Proven strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and ability to build strong relationships across teams.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a part of a team and individually.
