Learn more about the UC Office of the President DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Office of Risk Services is responsible for developing and implementing Enterprise Risk Management systemwide, identifying and developing strategies to minimize the impact of risk, developing a center of excellence for managing risk, reducing costs and improving safety by executing new ideas and strategic plans in a rapid manner. By strategically managing risk we can reduce the chances of loss, create greater financial stability and protect our resources in support of UC's mission. POSITION SUMMARY This position reports to the Executive Director of Captive programs with dotted line responsibility to the Deputy Chief Risk Officer. They oversee and manage a highly specialized external accounting unit for the University's wholly-owned captive, Fiat Lux Insurance Company. This is the University's Captive Insurance Company Platform, (Captive Platform) that consists of five licensed and regulated captive insurance companies. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Responsible for establishing operational objectives and work plans and delegates assignments to multiple and various captive units. The captive board reviewed objectives consist of the UC President, CFO, COO, General Counsel, and other senior management to determine Captive operations' success. Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing the control of the budget/organizational resources for the Captive Platform. Reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control. Monitors adherence to approved captive budgets. Develops, modifies, and executes policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may also have an organization-wide effect. Works closely with the Risk Services Director of Operations and Finance on systemwide budgeting related to program expenses for the various self-insured insurance programs Risk Services oversees. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel and severe delays in overall schedules. Responsibilities Required Qualifications
