The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is currently seeking applications for a Financial Specialist I in the Office of Budget and Finance.
Reporting to an Assistant Director in the Office of Budget and Finance, the Financial Specialist I coordinates and oversees several campus wide compliance initiatives to ensure conformity with university fiscal policies and procedures as well as adherence with internally and state established administration processes. The position supports accuracy in financial reporting by updating IRIS master data and monitoring select IRIS transactions for compliance with best practices.
Primary responsibilities include: The Financial Specialist I is responsible for coordination and oversight of several annual campus-wide compliance initiatives such as the Conflicts of Interest process, Self-Assessment of Controls, Unused Leave and Inclement Weather Leave reporting, and the Department Head report. The position establishes new accounts, approves budgets, and monitors the spend associated with research funding from internal and state appropriation resources; and monitors account balances on non-sponsored agency and gift funds, working with units to resolve year-end deficits. This position reviews IRIS transactional activity for compliance with UT policy and best practice guidance, verifies and confirms IRIS master data for the campus to ensure financial data integrity and updates guidance published on the department's website. The Financial Specialist I acts as back-up for various duties and performs other duties as assigned.
