Established in 1887, Winchester Thurston School (WT) (winchesterthurston.org) is an independent, Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12, coeducational college preparatory day school in Pittsburgh, PA, serving more than 630 students. WT seeks an experienced business management and finance professional who will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the school’s $18M annual budget. The Director of Finance will support the Head of School and the Board of Trustees to align resources with the school’s Strategic Priorities. The individual in this position will report to the Head of School and will work collaboratively with academic and administrative leaders, faculty, staff, and students to advance the school’s Mission. The Position The Director of Finance (CFO) will be responsible for and/or provide oversight of a broad range of fiscal and operational activities and functions, including financial reporting, budget development and implementation, student billing and collection, purchasing and accounts payable, benefits administration, insurance, investments, transportation, food service and maintenance vendors, and auxiliary programs. While the Director is responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the Business Office and Programs Department, the individual in this position will also need to demonstrate strategic leadership and a collaborative spirit to work with stakeholders in identifying and allocating resources to further the school’s education endeavors. The ideal candidate will have experience in a senior administrative role, a working knowledge of accounting/financial business management, as well as expertise in contract negotiation and budget management.
