Responsibilities: - Responsible for preparation of monthly financial statements and budget reports. Manage month-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Maintain orderly records of financial transactions, in compliance with school policies and local, state and federal requirements. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Supervise Business Office staff to ensure financial reporting deadlines are met; provide training for staff to further develop skills and foster an environment for learning, growth and to support change within the School.
- Work closely with divisions and departments in preparation of the annual operating budget, support CFO in preparation of consolidated budget and schedules.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports for various internal and external users. Provide monthly financial reports to auxiliary organizations.
- Manage tuition contracts, monitor AR aging, and manage collection of past due accounts.
- Manage enrollment and administration of employee health, dental and retirement benefit plans.
- Prepare statistical reporting for school associations.
- Monitor finance and human resource management legislation, trends and best practices to ensure All Saints’ is following current industry processes and procedures.
- Assist Facilities, Life/Safety, School Store with operating policies and procedures, scheduling, inventory planning, cost management and analysis and long-term maintenance and renewal plans.
- Manage procurement process to support budget controls and support school operations.
- Coordinate with Admissions in enrollment processes, including tuition contract management.
- Monitor financial aid budget and serve as a member of the Financial Aid committee.
- Manage process improvement for administrative data management and assist with adoption of data management and collaboration tools.
- Coordinate information and schedules needed by external auditors for the annual financial audit and periodic insurance audits (workers’ comp, property review).
- Other accounting-related tasks and projects, as assigned, in order to meet the school’s financial objectives.
Qualifications: - BBA in Accounting or Finance or significant equivalent experience in financial management and reporting.
- Seasoned and mature leader with at least 10 plus years of broad finance and operations related experience; background in an educational institution or not-for-profit is
- Public accounting experience is not required but is preferred; CPA is desirable.
- Experience with accounting software systems – working knowledge of Blackbaud applications preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is mandatory; Teams, SharePoint and other Office365 applications a plus.
- Knowledge and/or experience with benefit administration, labor law and other human resource management issues.
- Good organizational, verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to work with detailed information with a high degree of accuracy.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Creative, strategic, and forward thinker with experience in major institutional capital improvement projects highly desirable; ability to provide sound financial expertise so as to position the school for continued
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational ability. Assured public presence and comfort level with faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, parents, and high-level donors. Ability to communicate the case for support in lay terms to trustees and other stakeholders.
