As the primary support for MICA's financial systems and data; partner with Technology, Human Resources and other Stakeholder departments and the Workday Governance Group in developing and maintaining system and data governance policies and procedures.
Summary of Essential Functions:
As a key member of the finance team, the senior financial systems analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining financial systems, primarily Workday.Â They partner with diverse business stakeholders to lead numerous projects to increase business efficiency and automate business processes within the Finance Office. They have excellent collaboration, problem solving and advanced technical skills. They provide technical guidance, have direct hands on experience in financial systems process design, configuration and implementation to respond to end user requests for new features, problem investigation, security configuration and complex reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business users to assess business needs and translate those needs into effective technical solutions that align with College initiatives.
Assess the feasibility of systems enhancements and process changes and their impact on Workday and ancillary systems.
Determine operational/functional objectives for assigned projects. Gather information, evaluate requirements and solutions.
Provide functional and technical expertise and recommendations in assessing implementation of project objectives.
Document functional specifications. Translate ambiguous business problems into recommended concrete technology solutions.
Perform system configuration and application/report development and collaborate with other internal/external resources.
Develop test plans based on requirements and direct users in executing test plans and tracking defects/fixes.
Collaborate with internal project teams and external resources.
Serve as a Workday Financials product specialist documenting business requirements and configuring Workday Financials in the functional areas of Financial Accounting, Assets, Suppliers,Â Expenses, Procurement, Customers, Endowment, and Grants.
Test and deploy functionality into Workday; including executing the pilot/implementation/deployment of new requirements or enhancements to the Workday application and integration support.
Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain business processes, dashboards, advanced and shared reports using Workday delivered tools.
Review Workday weekly service notes and major release notes to identify the impact and prepare for or react to new features and functionality. Support testing, regression testing, training, and communication of required changes in Workday releases.
Provide support to Finance and Accounting Workday users by answering questions, researching and resolving issues, following up on issues, providing documentation and training.
Assists with projects involving installations, upgrades and modernization of financial systems
Works collaboratively with the Workday Governance group to manage the twice-yearly Workday releases.
Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of a campus financial systems and reporting training program
Leads and performs training of end users
Identify and interpret the impact of financial system changes on stakeholders and provide strategic and tactical input into the change management plan
Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Workday Financials and Workday Reporting
Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Outstanding business process fluency, with a strong ability to discuss processes at a level of detail sufficient to gain insight into the underlying business problem or opportunity;
Extreme organization skills, detail orientation, and a proven ability to follow projects and issues through to completion are required
Solid written and verbal communication skills are required; must have the interpersonal finesse to interact effectively within the organization and with external suppliers
Work in a team environment, both as a participant and project leader; establishing and maintaining strong professional relationships.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in networking and cross-functional collaboration.
Proven ability and success with financial systems, reporting, data warehousing and general data management, particularly in a distributed access environment
Maintain the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive data in any medium regarding the College or its students, faculty, or staff
Associates degree in Finance, Technology or a related field
Demonstrated experience in a related field.
Demonstrated experience with Workday Financials and Workday Reporting
Familiarity with higher education administration current best practices and leading edge technologies
Knowledge of Peoplesoft Campus Solutions
