Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, MA has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, customer service-oriented and collaborative Interim Director of Finance and Operations, effective December 1, 2020.
While currently providing a high-quality distance-learning experience for our students, girls in grades 7-12, we are currently planning for a return to on-campus instruction in early 2021.
Reporting to the Head of School and having a very visible role in working with the Finance Committee and full Board of Trustees, the Interim Director of Finance and Operations will assume the following primary responsibilities:
Accounting and Finance:
Monitor, project and manage the School's cash flow needs
Collaborate with Asst. Head of School for Enrollment and Strategy, Dir. of Financial Aid and Head of School to maximize net tuition revenue
Collaborate with Head of School and leadership team to create budget scenarios for future years
Supervise two Business Office staff members and manage monthly account review and closing process
Work with Student Billing Coordinator to manage tuition receivables
Lead monthly reconciliation with Development Department
Monitor operating budget and oversee reporting to department heads and administrators
Manage financial reporting to Finance Committee and Board of Trustees
Ensure compliance with federal and state legislation, IRS, audit and labor law requirements
Manage annual audit process, including reporting to Audit Committee, and filing of Form 990, MA PC and Form 3ABC
Manage risk as primary contact with insurance broker regarding School’s various policies
Supervise managers/directors of the following departments:
Buildings and Grounds
Review bi-weekly payroll
Review annual audit of retirement plan and filing of Form 5500
Participate in review of personnel policies and procedures
Consult with benefits broker to review and recommend renewal options
Collaborate with Business Office Associate in management of employee benefits
Primary contact with legal counsel regarding employment issues
Work with Head of School to revise compensation structure
Standardize and monitor employee evaluation process
Other duties as assigned.
B.A. minimum; MBA or comparable degree preferred
Strong background in accounting, particularly with nonprofit organizations or educational institutions; CPA preferred
At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial and operations management experience
Proficiency with Blackbaud systems
Experience in ensuring the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination
