Assistant or Associate Professor of Finance

Description: This is a 9-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The faculty member will be responsible for developing and delivering course content in finance with a primary emphasis on investments, real estate, insurance, and/or related subjects. The faculty members should have experience teaching first-generation and diverse students. The successful candidate will also support the department's student organizations and professional partner engagement activities. Excellence in teaching and curriculum development is required, as well as quality productivity in academic research and refereed publications. Professional certification is preferred. Continuous involvement with the profession and College, University, and Community service are also expected. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: The Department of Accounting and Finance is one of five academic departments in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University, located in Greensboro, NC. North Carolina A&T State University is a public, doctoral/research, 1890 land-grant university committed to exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service. The Department of Accounting and Finance currently enrolls over 275 students and offers two undergraduate degrees, a B.S. in Accounting and a B.S. in Finance, as well as a minor in Accounting and a minor in Finance. The Department also offers a Master in Accountancy degree and an Accounting concentration in the College's MBA program. All business programs in the college have been accredited by AACSB International since 1979, and the Accounting program has held a separate AACSB International accreditation since 1986. The Department currently has 15 faculty, all of whom hold terminal degrees and 12 of whom maintain active professional certifications. Vision Statement. Internal job number: 000940 Requirements: The position requires an earned doctorate by the anticipated date of appointment from an AACSB International accredited institution and professional accomplishments appropriate for the level of appointment. Preferred: Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education. The best candidates will have expertise in investments, real estate, insurance, and/or related feilds, at least two years of experience, and qualifications appropriate for an appointment to the faculty at the applicable level. Candidates most likely to be successful will also have a proven record of academic research and an active record of professional engagement.
