The Vice President, Finance is critical to the organization’s success and is a key strategic part of the organization’s growth. This role is accountable for overall financial management, investment, financial reporting, budgeting, month end / quarter-end / year-end reports; audits; audit and other external relationships related to prudent financial and fiscal management. This highly qualified individual must have a clear understanding of international banking, foreign currencies and be a global thinker. This position is accountable for the financial management of all entities that are owned and operated by the organization. This position is a key part of the Leadership Team and is also accountable for mentoring, developing and management of the Finance Team.
Accountable for financial reporting systems and Finance team members.
Prepare financial statement information for management and board leaders on a timely basis, updating as needed to provide clarity and direction.
Directly interface with Secretary-Treasurers, Finance Committees and Executive Committees on financial position, trends, and budgets.
Review essential contracts and agreements for financial ramifications and liability/risk management purposes.
Interface with insurance brokers to manage all aspects of association’s risk management and employee benefit programs.
Develop inventory systems and controls for retail products and capitalized equipment.
Interact with President and CEO and senior leadership to provide financial training and to ensure understanding of, and training in, financial systems.
Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements.
Prepare cash flow projections and cash requirements analysis as needed.
Evaluate third-party investment managers for adherence to policies and investment goals and recommend changes to investment policy statements to the financial committees when appropriate based on regular reviews.
Maintain an accounting policy and procedure manual to document the requirements necessary for prompt processing of expense reimbursements, vendor invoices, customer orders, payments, and other related items.
Prepare annual budgets to include coordination with and assistance to all departments.
Prepare and manage annual audit in conjunction with PCMA outside auditors
Authorize credit and tax information to Association and Foundation vendors and customers.
Provide review and oversight on PCMA 401K & 457b plan administration, including TPA & financial advisor interaction, fund review, annual benchmarking, employer contributions, etc.
Understands and can prepare various financial models
Ensure compliance with all tax and license filings, reports, and payments.
Serve as staff executive to Finance and Audit Committees
Evaluate major asset purchases and financing options to ensure continual financial stability of the Association.
Attend PCMA and Foundation functions as a representative of the organization.
Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
You will bring with you to this role
Degree in accounting and/or financial management
CPA certification is required and an MBA preferred but not required
Ten (10) years of experience in accounting with at least five (5) years in a similar position with proven track record of success and demonstrated entrepreneurial skills.
Leading a finance team for a minimum of five (5) years
Extensive knowledge of accounting systems, procedures and policies, financial management, forecasting, planning, and budgeting.
Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Professional ability to interface with staff, Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, other volunteer leaders and the business community in a positive manner.
Ability to encourage and empower reporting management staff to achieve goals and objectives.
This role is based in Chicago with 10% travel.
