Hospital Finance at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full time Senior Financial Analyst. The successful candidate will: - Work closely with AVP and be responsible for monitoring, reporting and training overall collections activities relating to timely and appropriate billing and collection for Inpatient and Outpatient hospital services. Working knowledge of all aspects of the Revenue Cycle processes including Billing, Coding, Registration, Charge Master, Denial, Vendor relationship, etc. - Monitors daily Accounts Receivables, activities to identify areas for collection improvements for appropriate and timely billing and collections of all claims. - Work collaboratively with hospital departments to assist with issues related to charging and billing for patient services, identifying compliance issues, and defining appropriate corrective actions. - Be responsible for generating reports where issues are identified as well as monitoring the rebilling and collections in order to resolve the identified issues in a timely manner. - Responsible for all CMS/OIG and/or other regulatory and pay or audits by monitoring and responding in a timely manner. - Performs routine audits of inpatient and outpatient accounts for payment and compliance issues as well as other interfaces to assure timely an appropriate charge posting. - Works with Billing team for ICD-10 billing readiness and compliance in Eagle, ePremis and payor systems. - Reviews and audit the managed care contract terms loaded into the Eagle Billing system. - Reviews and generate monthly reports of denied claims, determine root cause of denials. - Works with hospital department to resolve problems leading to patterns of incorrect, coding, billing, or payment denials. - Works in collaboration with Revenue Cycle trainer to analyze training needs and develop programs or modify/improve existing training programs for Revenue Cycle Staff. - Performs all other duties as needed to facilitate hospital reimbursement. Adheres to the SUNY Downstate Medical Center University Hospital of Brooklyn's Principles of Behavior. - Attend all scheduled departmental meetings. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: - Bachelor's degree in Health or Business related study preferred. Five to seven years of Revenue cycle (Patient Access & Patient Accounts) and other related experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. - At least seven years' Education & Experience in a hospital setting in Patient Accounts and Patients Access departments. - Extensive experience in interacting with all levels of staff and management. In-depth knowledge of CPT and ICD coding systems & experience working with Medicare; Medicaid and Commercial payors. - Extensive experience with American Healthware (Eagle); ePremis; Craneware; Cerner; Muse and other systems interfacing with the Siemen's billing software. - Ability to multitask and manage projects independently able to take initiate and work without direct supervision. - Extensive working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Access database. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills. Additional Info: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees. Work schedule: Monday - Friday; 9 AM - 5 PM. Hours per week: 37.5.
