About The Nature Conservancy
Founded in 1951, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global conservation organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. Guided by science, TNC creates innovative, on-the-ground solutions to our world’s toughest challenges so that nature and people can thrive together. The organization is tackling climate change and protecting lands, waters and oceans around the world. TNC envisions a positive future world where the aspirations of a growing human population are met – people are fed, healthy, employed, educated – and the diversity of all life persists.
One of TNC’s core values is its commitment to diversity, striving for a globally diverse and culturally competent workforce that represents the communities we serve. Over the years, TNC has evolved from its roots as a US land trust into a global organization working in 79 countries. With over 4,000 employees sharing ideas across a global network of projects, TNC is building diverse coalitions with indigenous communities, the private sector, government, and non-profits to find common ground and create win-win solutions capable of producing results beyond an individual place. Through direct action,... transformative policy, and innovative financial solutions, its science-based approach protects, restores and encourages the sustainable use of nature while broadening the constituency for conservation by engaging citizens, policymakers, business leaders, financiers, and others in its work.
Managing one of the most effective private philanthropic organizations in the world, TNC has a robust membership program with over one million members, a growing online donor community, and one of the most successful planned-giving programs in the United States. In 2019, TNC had net assets of $7.7 billion and annual revenue exceeding $1 billion.
