Lewis University invites applications for an Associate Vice President for Finance to assist the Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer in providing oversight for all business and finance functions, maintenance and development of the university’s facilities, human resources, and related Board of Trustee Committees. Included in these departments are additional functional areas such as the Controller’s Office; Bursar’s Office; Purchasing and Insurance; Meetings, Events, and Conferences; and the Mailroom.

Assist with developing and submitting for approval the annual budget and audit reports to the President and Board of Trustees, banks and regulatory government agencies.
Oversee budgetary controls and guidelines for university expenditures and the investment of university funds.
Represent the university to various individuals, groups, and organizations, both internal and external.
Conduct evaluations of staff performance and determine appropriate actions for improvement including, but not limited to, adjustments in annual salary.
Perform additional job-related duties as delegated by and provide counsel to the Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer
BUSINESS & FINANCE
Serve as the university’s chief business, accounting, and budget officer.
Responsible for the development of the annual budget, long-term budgetary planning and forecasting, and bond covenant compliance.
Establish and administer accounting policies and procedures; oversee accounting and financial record keeping; maintain documentation on all business transactions including, but not limited to: billings, collections, deposits, receipts, payroll and disbursements.
Provide external audit coordination and support.
Oversee the preparation and submission of various tax documents, returns, and filings.
Oversee the cash management activities, including cash flow and line of credit activity.
Direct the accounting and recording of university investment activities.
Provide oversight of all institutional grant funds and endowment accounting and reporting.
Collaborate with Financial Aid Services to ensure university compliance with federal, state, and private grants, and to ensure compliance with the U.S. Department of Education Title IV Financial Aid Programs.
Assist with the oversight of the university campus master facilities planning, environmental safety, hazardous materials, ADA accessibility and sustainability.
Assist with the oversight of capital projects including the scope, budget, and design for new construction as well as for renovation in existing campus facilities.
Assist with negotiation of outsourced service contracts and monitor contract compliance.
Establish and control related operational budgets.
Assist with the review and approval of university contracts.
Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field required, Certified Public Accountant Certificate preferred. Progressive experience required in a complex institutional setting, preferably in higher education and not for profit organizations. Must have the ability to articulate and implement the University’s vision supported by division goals and objectives. Commitment to team-based management required. Seasoned financial leader of integrity, possess superior analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; capacity to think strategically and creatively, possess a broad institutional perspective. Strong understanding necessary in information technology, and campus services.
